Trusting God's Process

Your destiny will be revealed in the dirt. So let it do it's work.

This Sunday, Pastor Steven Furtick has a word for us all the way from Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the sermon, Let The Dirt Do Its Work, he focuses on the parable of the sower, which depicts a relationship between a farmer and his seeds.

Telling the story in a completely new way, Pastor Steven points out that like work that is being done in the soil after the seeds are planted, God does work in our hearts. And just as the dirt handles the process of cultivating that seed, so does the dirt — (d)isappointment; (i)nsecurity; (r)ejection; (t)rouble — in our lives cultivate the seeds in our heart.

What better place to talk about dirt than in a valley? You’re literally surrounded by it. I mean, the dirt might even be so high, that you’ll confuse it for a mountain. But I digress.

The point is, despite being unwanted in some instances, the dirt has a purpose. The farmer might not know how the dirt transforms the seeds. Likewise, we might not understand why we find ourselves in dirty circumstances. Some of us may even be germaphobes (metaphorically meaning — do everything we can to avoid facing disappointment, insecurity, rejection, trouble). And truth be told, sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is admit that you don’t know.

But God says He wants to use it. So, it doesn’t matter if the farmer knows how it all works together. It doesn’t matter if you know how everything works together. Regardless, both you and the farmer have the same expectation from God: sow the seed.

In other words, don’t worry about the how. Just do what He says. As long as you stay faithful and diligent to His instruction, trust He will take care of the rest.

God Got You.. Always and forever.
